MSU vs. Southern Miss Pre-Game Review
It's finally here folks.
Mississippi State's 2015 season opener in a little old town called Hattiesburg.
The Bulldogs will face the Southern Miss Golden Seagulls after trashing them 49-0, last season. State would go on to grab their first #1 overall ranking and stay there for 5 straight weeks before fading out at the end of the season.
But a new year is upon us. And the doubters and haters that make the pre-season polls have doubted and hated us once again.
Welp, time to prove them wrong. Again.
Where some see concerns, I see another chance to discover our newest batch of stars.
Each year, there's that distressed feeling that we can't replace an Anthony Dixon, Vick Ballard, LeDarius Perkins or a Josh Robinson. But we clearly do. Every year. This year, look out for junior RB Ashton Shumpert and sophomore WR Gabe Myles.
And the defense? What do we do after losing leaders like Benardrick McKinney and Preston Smith? Well, we re-hire Manny Diaz and let senior DB's Will Redmond and Taveze Calhoun lead the chaos.
In truth, there's nothing really to be concerned with. Coach Dan Mullen is here and Dak is back for his senior season. What more could we ask for?
Oh yeah, probably a decent kicking game.
